Holy Spam!
I got the message in the post below today on Tumblr. My first TumblSpam. Spam has been around for a while, but what I don’t understand is why it hasn’t gotten any better. And worse, why it’s still working. Spam email, Facebook messages, Twitter followers, and now Tumblr messages are so obvious to me. Clearly this is not a real person. Clearly I will not manually enter the link...

I tagged along for a joint-magazine ad photo shoot with a Ducati dealership and Collier, a boutique in downtown Portland. Here’s a behind-the-scenes video I shot for it. Want a video of your shoot? Contact me!

Oh, Hello Again.
For the umpteenth time, I am upstarting the ole 503Blog.  Why? Well, I have some cool stuff going down and I thought I’d share. First on the list is a sort-of secret project that I’ve been working on with a few other people here in Portland.  We spent a weekend filming a local guy that is looking to become a fashion designer and is involved in a lot of marketing / nightlife...

Blackbird: Pizza & Paint
With one week to go till shooting, we’re currently putting the finishing touches on our set. A little pizza to keep the energy flowing and we should be done in a couple hours. The rest of the afternoon was spent going over loose ends and finalizing specifics on shots, props, wardrobe, and anything else we weren’t sure of. If nothing else, this thing will be well planned. Photos to...

Blackbird: Trailer Shoot
Planning. Lots of planning. But that’s what it takes, no? We’ve got actors geared up and ready to go. We’ve got locations scouted and secured. We’ve got crew in place. And it’s all going down next weekend.  This has been a long time coming, but everyone is excited to get it going. The trailer will be a montage of snippets from our main characters past followed by a...

Blackbird: Set building
Well, today is the final day (hopefully) of set construction for a scene that will serve as our Kickstarter promotion for Blackbird. Basically, we’re raising the floor about four feet off the ground so our camera moves can all be at floorboard level.  It’s pretty ridiculous really and we’re really excited about what we’ll get from it all. The scene itself won’t...

"Oh, I'm a Producer."
“Well, we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Since March I’ve been working on getting a short film made. It’s gone through an incredible amount of revisions and seen many, many personnel changes. The one thing that has remained consistent is that I was going to be its Director. I’ve had the thought that I wanted to direct a film for quite a long time and I saw this...

You know, be creative
I’m sitting at my computer thinking to myself that I haven’t written in a while and I should be writing. Mostly because a lot of cool stuff is going down and if I ever want to write a book about my life, I’ll need this blog as some sort of resource. So here we are. This blog has been about a lot of different things since I started writing it a couple years ago. It’s been...

Shooting with Three
I’m not one to complain about getting to hang out with three beautiful girls for an afternoon taking pictures. That being said, it does present its share of challenges from a photography perspective.  Luckily I got to hang with three amazingly talented models to get this done, so things like posing in space, looks, and movement were all in sync. The result is some pretty cool shots in a...

A Little Time with iPhone 4
What a day June 24th was. First, up early to complete paperwork on the new place in NE Portland (more on that in a later post). After reviewing and signing more forms than it took to get my car loan (and then getting Lindsae to sign them while she waited tables at Cup & Saucer) and doing a once-over with our leasing agent at the place, I had the keys in hand and the time was pushing two in...

A Quick Note on Navigation Systems
— Learn how to use a map. Seriously. It’s getting ridiculous that one of the criticisms of the iPhone has become, “doesn’t offer free navigation and Google Maps isn’t good enough.” Really? Typing an address and getting directions to it from wherever you are isn’t good enough? You really need a creepy voice telling you exactly when to turn? You’re...

A Quick Thought on Invasive Ads Online
I f*cking hate them. And no, not just because they are ads. In fact, some of them are actually pretty cool (Apple has done some amazing ones on the Wall Street Journal and ESPN homepages). But, even Apple’s are annoying. But why? Well, as much fun as they try and make them with all kinds of crap flying all over the screen, zooming in and out, and bouncing through the normal page, they...

Creating Suede Revolver: The Script
Okay, it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything here. What can I say, it’s been busy. But, I’m making a comeback. And to facilitate said comeback, I’ll be keeping track of the production of my film, Suede Revolver, from (almost) start to finish.  So for any film to exist (any good film anyway) there should probably be a script. The story behind Suede...

Suede Revolver is the first short film from writer/director Joe Aimonetti. This is the hard truth.  These beautiful flowers, raped all day by these disgusting fucking bugs. But it’s the circle of life and there is nothing Addie can do about it. ** Coming, Summer 2010 **
